Scheffler's RBC Heritage Victory Delayed by Weather
Monday Finish Set for Hilton Head Island Event
Tournament Suspended Due to Darkness
Scottie Scheffler's bid for a fourth victory in his last five tournaments will have to wait another day, as the 2024 RBC Heritage experienced a more than 25-hour weather delay on Sunday. With darkness descending at 7:45 pm, the final round was suspended, setting up a Monday finish at the Harbour Town Golf Links.
The tournament, which moved from April to June in 2023, has been plagued by weather issues throughout the weekend. Heavy rain on Saturday forced the cancellation of the pro-am, and more rain on Sunday morning delayed the start of the final round by four hours.
Scheffler, who won the Masters two weeks ago, held a two-stroke lead over Patrick Cantlay when play was suspended. He is looking to become the first player to win four PGA Tour events in a row since Tiger Woods in 2000.
The RBC Heritage is the last event before the PGA Championship, the second major of the year. Scheffler is the favorite to win the major at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
